An Update – April 2017

Here is a quick update on Doug Sweet & Associates.  TAPPI Papercon 2017 begins on Sunday, April 23 in Minneapolis.  Jacqui and Doug will be attending the conference, but decided not to have an exhibit this year. Don’t worry, Jacqui is still bringing her famous cookies and even though we don’t have a booth we will be in the exhibit hall so we can visit our long time paper industry friends.  If you are trying to track us down, just send a brief e-mail to either one of us. or

The conference kicks off on Monday morning and includes the Keynote Address.  Technical sessions begin at 1:30 in the afternoon.  Tuesday will be a busy day.  Doug begins with hosting a table to discuss Vacuum Systems at the Hot Topics Breakfast, at 6:45.  At the 10:30 Papermaking session he will be presenting a paper on Papermaking Best Practices with Vacuum-Dewatering Systems.  Also, Doug is being recognized with a PIMA award on Tuesday evening.  We will attend the Water Removal Committee meeting at noon on Wednesday.

Finally, here is a belated announcement that Doug Sweet & Associates celebrated a 15 year anniversary back in September.  We had many good friends join us and our family during the celebration party.  Here is a photo of Jacqui, Doug, Carrie & Sam and Doug II, Corinne and little Callie. Another Month and Another Conference – This one was in Canada

Following the TAPPI Papercon conference in New Orleans, we have had a busy schedule. I had an emergency trip to a mill in California, followed by a couple more projects and vacuum studies. The paper which was presented at the TAPPI conference was accepted for the technical program at the PACWEST/PAPTAC 2012 conference in Jasper, Alberta. Jacqui and I attended this conference, which was combined with some vacation time in the Pacific Northwest. Here is a photo during my presentation, and one from the Jasper Park Lodge where the conference was located.

TAPPI Papercon Was Great!

We had a booth at the conference and all “associates” were related.  See photo below.  The conference set a record for attendance with almost 1500 people and 100 vendor/exhibitors.  Trade fair activity was very good and we were visited by many long time friends.  Yes, Jacqui brought cookies.  Technical papers were presented over three days, and I presented my paper on Wednesday morning.  The title was: Making it With Less (equipment, energy, water and other stuff).  Maybe we will get the paper added to the Articles page in this website.

We Have A New Site

Welcome to our completely reworked website. Five or six years ago I was told by my daughter that she doesn’t keep a business card unless the person has a website listed. Well, that thought stuck and led to, in 2007. We are now in our 11th year of business and have more of our company to tell about. Website designs have evolved and we have taken advantage of a new look. Besides bringing everyone up to date with our progress, we have been able to add a “store” for our line of unique vacuum gauges and specialty pressure gauges required for the best paper machine vacuum systems.

We invite you to browse our website and hope you find what you are searching for. If you work for a paper mill we are confident our services will provide a positive impact to your paper machine efficiency and production rates, plus energy savings within the vacuum system. We are still looking for that inquiry from a mill in Italy or New Zealand requiring a visit as soon as possible to resolve their problems.

Please visit us at the TAPPI Papercon Conference in New Orleans on April 22-25th. We will be in Booth # 517 in the Jazz Exhibit Hall and yes, Jacqui will be bringing her cookies! Doug will be presenting a paper on Wednesday – Doing More With Less (Equipment, Energy, Water and Other Stuff).
